Volunteer Information

Volunteering For SESD!!!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the South Eastern School District. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year all volunteer information will be centralized at the Administration Building, not at the individual schools. In order to be a South Eastern volunteer, we ask that you complete the following six items:

If you select Volunteer for your Child Abuse clearance and Criminal clearance - the fee will be waived.  However, if your plan is to obtain these clearances in order to also substitute you must pay the fee and select Employment .  The fee as of 07-25-2015 for each of these will be reduced from $10 to $8.

1. Volunteer Application- you will need to print this form and submit.

Clearances - Effective 07-01-2015 a few changes have occurred for volunteers. All volunteers must have a child abuse clearance and a criminal clearance as well as an FBI clearance, unless you attest to living in Pennsylvania for 10 consecutive years and complete the form to indicate such. All volunteers will need to renew their clearances every 5 years (60 months). If you are currently a volunteer at SESD and your clearances are less than 5 years old they will be accepted. Otherwise - you will need to get newly approved clearances to volunteer for the upcoming school year.

2. Child Abuse Clearance - either complete this on line or by mailing this in - fee waived beginning 07-01-2015 for volunteers or $8 for employment - you will provide a copy of your approved clearance (and show your original).

3. Criminal Record Clearance - either complete this on line or by mailing this in - fee waived beginning 07-01-2015 for volunteers or $8 for employment - you will provide a copy of your approved clearance (and show your original).

4. FBI Clearance - you must either register for this clearance on line or by calling - the cost is $27 - once fingerprinted you will provide the district with a copy of your PAE tracking number. In addition to the locations listed for fingerprinting - Red Lion Area School District is another location that is now open to the public but you must contact them for an appointment by calling 717-244-4518.

An FBI Clearance is not required if you attest that you have lived in Pennsylvania for at least 10 consecutive years. Instead of fulfilling the FBI Clearance you would instead read and sign the Employee/Volunteer Self Reporting Commitment Form.

5. Arrest / Conviction Report and Certification Form - please read and sign the attached form to submitted.

6. Volunteer Acknowledgement of Policy 916 and 806 - Please read Policy 916 - Volunteers and Policy 806 - Child Abuse - and be advised that as a volunteer you are considered a Mandated Reporter and consider taking the Mandated Reporter Training as listed.

Once you have all 6 of the above required forms, including:

Application, Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Clearance, FBI (PAE #) or Employee Volunteer Self Reporting Commitment Form, Arrest / Conviction Report and Certification Form and the signed Volunteer Acknowledgement please bring your original clearances and a set of copies to be submitted to the SESD Administration Building located at 377 Main Street, Fawn Grove, PA 17321 - no appointment necessary if these are submitted during normal work hours - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. You will turn in the copies and you MUST retain the originals for your records in case you need them for another organization, such as church, rec, etc. Once your copies are on file we are not authorized to give you a copy if you need them for any reason. If you need to make accommodations for a time to drop off your items outside of our normal business hours, please call 717-382-4843 x6230 first, as we will certainly find a time to work for you.

Please wait until you have ALL 6 of the above items to submit. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE ON FILE AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IN ORDER TO VOLUNTEER AT A SCHOOL.

Again, thank you for volunteering and we hope that you find the opportunity rewarding.
